If two parallel wires are carrying equal currents, why do we say that they attract each other?

Two parallel wires carrying equal and opposite currents will experience a magnetic force of attraction due to the opposing magnetic fields they create. This phenomenon is known as magnetic induction and is described by Ampere's law. The strength of the attraction is proportional to the magnitude of the currents and the distance between the wires.
